Scholarship Eligibility

To apply for a Workforce Development Scholarship applicants must: 

1. Reside in Tasmania and meet one of the following criteria: 

  • Australian citizen 
  • Permanent resident 
  • Holder of a permanent humanitarian visa 
  • A holder of a valid visa that permits full-time work and/or study in Australia. Visa eligibility will be assessed on a case-by-case basis. Approval depends on individual circumstances, and the visa’s conditions. 

2. Applicants must either be currently studying or intending to study:

  • Early Childhood Certificate III
  • Early Childhood Diploma
  • Early Childhood Teaching Degree

The qualification must be:

  • With a Skills Tasmania endorsed Registered Training Organisation (where a Certificate III or Diploma)
  • An accredited early childhood qualification that meets the National Quality Framework qualification requirements.   

Individuals who commenced their studies from November 2025 onwards are eligible to apply.

3. Hold a Working with Vulnerable People Card (WWVP) or have the ability to obtain one. 

4. Be employed in an approved Tasmanian education and care service and maintain involvement in the sector during their studies.

5. Be willing and able to work in the Tasmanian education and care sector with an approved service for a two-year period following the completion of their qualification. 

The scholarship offer will be conditional until proof of enrolment and employment is supplied.
