Workforce Development Scholarship Program
Building Tasmania’s Education and Care Workforce
The Workforce Development Scholarship Program, delivered by Early Childhood Australia (ECA) National on behalf of the ECA Tasmania Branch, and funded by the Tasmanian Government through the Department of State Growth, is a strategic initiative to strengthen the education and care workforce across Tasmania.
This program is designed to support:
- Aspiring educators seeking an education and care qualification
- Experienced professionals looking to upskill and advance in the sector
- Educators relocating to rural or isolated services in Tasmania
Program Highlights
Financial Assistance
Scholarship funding helps cover the cost of training and study-related expenses, as well as completion and retention incentives for:
- Early Childhood Certificate III
- Early Childhood Diploma
- Early Childhood Teaching – Bachelor’s and master’s degrees
Wraparound Supports
The program goes beyond funding to ensure success:
- Mentorship from experienced educators to support study and workplace practice
- Coaching for career and study success
- Academic support including literacy, numeracy, and study skills
- Wellbeing support through regular check-ins and access to services
- Networking opportunities and communities of practice
- Professional development workshops and resources
Relocation Support
For educators moving to King Island, Flinders Island, or Tasmania’s West Coast to work in licensed education and care services, relocation assistance is available.
